Even if you miss every other star-studded event this year, you can't miss the Valentine Black Velvet Fashion Extravaganza and music performance on Sunday, February 13, 2005. The event will take place
in Wimberley, Texas. All proceeds will be donated to further the expansion of the Breast Cancer Resource Center, a volunteer organization providing core services and consultation to all women diagnosed with breast cancer and their caregivers.
Guests will enjoy performances from Joe Sears and Jaston Williams (of Greater Tuna), Grammy- nominated Jimmie Dale Gilmore, comedian Jo Harvey Allen, gold-plated songstress Kimmie Rhodes, and many others. A host of models and celebrities will all be modeling black velvet fashions that have been painted by great artists of Texas, including Jim Franklin, Terry Allen, Guy Juke, Joe Ely, Bale Allen, Leola Perez, Gene North, and Paul Milosevich, to name just a few.
Breast cancer is an illness that affects us all in some way. Everyone knows a woman who has dealt with the terrifying, life-threatening aftermath of the disease. This Valentine's Eve, the Black Velvet Extravaganza will donate its proceeds to raise money to assist those who have received this devastating diagnosis. Old Glory Ranch, the site of this philanthropic event, is staunchly dedicated to the cause.
"I am interested in doing whatever it takes to eliminate breast cancer as a household word and help everyone who is dealing with the shock of the diagnosis and the agony of the treatment. I have witnessed the suffering of my lifelong best friend this past year while supporting her through chemotherapy and the emotional effects of the breast cancer experience," says Suzanne McCord, owner of Old Glory Ranch. McCord's best friend, Laura Weems, is also the interior designer for Old Glory Ranch and all its events. This event is near and dear to their hearts.
The collaborative party/ fashion art show is a must-see for all who appreciate a good laugh, excellent art, Texas music, a breathtaking setting and delicious food on the eve of Valentine's Day. Come and celebrate with us!
