Wimberley, Texas

"Kevin Welch has never been one to be confined to a 'box,' and always insists on coloring outside the lines. ...where this could be a dangerous thing in a lesser artist's hands, Kevin once again proves you can take the unconventional, make something of substance from it, and still keep it real and down to earth."
AnnMarie Harrington, Take Country Back

Val Denn says: Kevin Welch is a literate, charismatic singer-songwriter who has made Nashville his home but not his sound. His songwriting is stellar and his songs have been recorded by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Johnny Cash, The Judds, Waylon Jennings, and Roger Miller, to name a few. He recorded two records for Warner Brothers and then started his own label “Dead Reckoning” that was a very successful venture in Nashville when the days of Indie companies was unheard of, producing 21 records during that time. He has a wondrous voice and way of telling a story that brings the audience into his fold. You have seen his videos on CMT, heard his songs on come hear his music at Susanna’s Kitchen.

We found more at the Kevin Welch website, including a bio in his own words. For instance...
  • "Born in Long Beach California August 17th, 1955
  • Traveled his little ass off till he was 7, family settled in Oklahoma.
  • Made it through high school, Midwest City High, and one semester of music school at Central State, Edmond, Oklahoma, joined a bluegrass band, dropped out of school, hit the road.
  • Met John Hadley, real songwriter for Tree International, who also taught art at the University of Oklahoma (OU) in Norman. Hadley was immediately critical of his guitar playing, which made him try harder just to get even...."
