Free School Supplies, Free Health Screenings and Services Assistance for Wimberley School Children at the Back to School Fiesta
The Barnabas Connection kicks off pre-registration for the Back to School Fiesta on Saturday, August 23, 2008.  The Fiesta will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM Wimberley United Methodist Church.

The Back to School Fiesta is an annual event to help area children in the Wimberley Independent School Disctrict who are in need to get ready for school with free school supplies. Also available are immunizations provided by the Hays County Health Department, free haircuts, dental and vision screenings. Assistance will be on hand to help families apply for services like CHIP, Medicaid and more.

In order to receive school supplies children should pre-register. Supplies will be made available on a first come, first serve basis through the pre-registration process. Pre-registration forms and the drop-off boxes are available at Wimberley Ace Hardware, Brookshire Brothers, the Wimberley ISD Admin Building, and Crisis Bread Basket. Children may also be pre-registered by phone. A Barnabas Volunteer will be available to assist with pre-registration at 512-847-1664.

The deadline for registration is August 10th, although the sooner the registration, the better!

The event is sponsored by the Barnabas Connection of the Wimberley United Methodist Church with support from many area churches and organizations, including  St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cypress Creek Church, Wimberley Unity Church, Wimberley Presbyterian Church, Chapel in the Hills, Rotary Club of Wimberley, and Crisis Bread Basket. The list of support is still growing, and if you or your organization would like to help with direct financial support or school supply donations, please contact Vicki McCuistion, Barnabas director, at 512-847-3109.

The Barnabas Connection is a non-denominational community outreach of the Wimberley United Methodist Church to connect people in need with available resources. All calls are confidential and applications for many types of services are on file and available.
