New Braunfels, with an historic German heritage, is just a 25-minute drive away. The Guadalupe River there is one of the most popular places to get wet in a tube and enjoy the ride. More water sports await you at Schlitterbahn. The New Braunfels Factory Outlet Mall is a shopping thrill, and don’t forget... Weihnachtmarket at Christmas time is not to be missed!

Some consider Wimberley a far suburb of Austin, our beautiful state capitol, which is but a 45-minute drive away. Visit the newly renovated and expanded capitol building open all year. Click here for tour details.

A visit to famous 6th Street for exciting live music and night life is a must for  music lovers of all kinds. The University of Texas campus is right in the heart of the city, with resources and museums. The Austin Children's Museum always offers new and interesting activities for the little ones.

San Antonio, one of the six most unique cities in the USA, is only 50 miles southwest of Wimberley and filled with southwestern charm. History buffs won't want to miss the Alamo and the Institute of Texan Cultures and the annual Texas Folklife Festival. The River Walk is worth a trip in itself.
