Flood stage for the Blanco River is 13 feet. On occasion, the Blanco has experienced dramatic flooding. The top five
historical crests are:
(1) 33.3 ft on 05/28/1929
(2) 28.89 ft on 11/16/2001
(3) 28.5 ft on 10/17/1998

(5) 20.46 ft on 06/09/1997
It is notable
that four out of these five have occurred in the last few years. Many
experts attribute this to overdevelopment or unplanned development in
the area creating a high ratio of impermeable surfaces resulting in high
runoff.
