From the Hays County Sheriff's Office: Electronics equipment targeted in two Wimberley area burglariesA Wimberley home and a storage facility were burglarized in the past week resulting in one case of identity theft and the loss of electronics equipment.
A laptop computer, a Dell 47-inch flat screen television set, a Polaroid 20-inch flat screen television and a freezer were taken from a home on Westwood Drive in Woodcreek. The home was entered through an unlocked window in the rear bedroom.
Storage unit at 5651 Ranch Road 2325 was broken into and a ThinkPad laptop computer, miscellaneous electronic equipment valued at $100, clothing and tax paperwork was taken. The property owner told Sheriff's Office investigators a credit card in his name had been reactivated and used in San Marcos and Austin.

Deputy Pam Robinson with the Crime Prevention Unit of the Hays County Sheriff's Office has the following advice:
* Please keep your vehicle locked.
* Remove anything of value from your vehicle.
* Take a property inventory of all valuable's including make, models, and serial numbers and photograph each item, store in a safe place and not on your computer (in case your computer is stolen in a burglary).
* Please include your children when talking about safety issues and the importance of taking safety measures in any suspicious circumstances.
* With the high price of gasoline consider a locking gas cap.
