I don't know how many people will be receiving the TXDOT mailer that I just did, but it's enough to make me puke. It appears that TXDOT believes that the only folks impacted by their project are those that live right next to the construction area even though much of the surrounding area is absolutely affected - TYPICAL!TXDOT has determined that to meet future area needs, it's necessary to upgrade 13.9 miles of RR12 - from US 290 to Joe Wimberley, to 4-5, 12 foot lanes requiring from 120 to 240 feet of right-of-way. Huh? I'm pretty sure most of the right-of-way within 5 miles of Wimberley isn't close to 120 ft, much less 240 ft. It's amazing that RR12 was just upgraded/resurfaced here within the last year and now is in need of a total upgrade and expansion. Sounds good, let's spend your tax dollars and then spend them again. Of course TXDOT doesn't seem to really be able to fund new highways anymore, so maybe we'll get the added bonus of some type of toll road. It's pathetic that the idea of the bypass was sold as a traffic-reducer and safety-enhancer while it is simply turning into a development booster and likely, a traffic-increaser. TXDOT has scheduled public meetings at VFW 9/26. There is no doubt that this project will degrade the area and forever change the clean, quiet, dark, pleasant rural environment where we live. If you have any appreciation of where you live, PLEASE take time to attend the meeting, let elected officials know your feelings, and be informed. This very well may be something that will have the biggest impact that the area has ever seen. TWO THUMBS DOWN!

I truly feel sick!!!! I did not receive the notice, but I guarandamntee you I'll be there. Its funny how our "Agencies" manipulate and lie, but are not held accountable. Just how do they plan on going that far if the room is not available?? Has it started already? I had to drive RR 12 to Dripping last Friday and lo and behold ---there he was -- the flagman stopping all traffic. We had to sit on our patooties and wait for the infamous escort truck to "guide" us past a machine on the side of the road making big dust. Again. I almost forgot how that 14 miles could take an hour. Ah, good times.
