The recent dust up with the moderator and several posters on this forum was unfortunate to say the least. In my opinion, the misunderstanding came about because of the inattention of the mods to enforce their “rules” for quite a while thereby creating perceived precedents and then all of a sudden jumping in with a firm hand. We should obey the rules and realize that we are in someone else’s house and therefore we are not guaranteed the freedom of speech that we love and cherish. I think it is easy to forget that basic fact, especially if we spend a lot of time on the Internet and blogs as I do. I am sorry, I didn’t realize, I’ll be more careful. BYW, I feel that to place most of the blame on “kayh” was unfair since many of us were equally involved. She has been a member since February 2009, at least 1 ˝ years with about 70 posts but was identified as a “fairly new member”. As a poster, “kayh” has never been at a loss for words and I have disagreed with her at times but she has been a valuable contributor and I hope she keeps on posting.

I agree with umlaut. You don't have to agree with everything people post. If everyone agreed with everyone else, it would make for a pretty boring forum, don't you agree? It's the difference of opinions that make reading and posting to this forum informative and entertaining. Keep posting kayh, as well as everyone else!

I've been a member since late 2007 and enjoy reading the varied thoughts and issues new and dear other members. Freedom of speech and expression in the great country is so special and even if I don't agree it's their right to say what they feel. I have my own soapbox issues and no doubt others may or may not agree with me. It's the exchange of ideas that make this country great. Maybe someone's post will cause me to rethink my stance.

I will admit to playing fast and loose with a rule or two, not to enrich anyone; but to try and find a needed service. Always willing to shoulder my share of the blame.

I had to go back over the Moderator's comment. It strikes me that being of benifit to the community is a higher calling than sticking to the letter of the rules. I'd prefer the train ride be enjoyable rather than just on time.As others have noted, since it's not my house, I don't get to make the rules.
