My hat's off to the Hays Country Road Dept for the resurface job on a portion of Fischer Store Road. It makes for a much smoother drive now and I'm sure the residents living out that way are pleased the work's been completed.

Well yes -- but, it is my understanding it will continue down Fischer and 2325 to the new school and would have been better done when school was out. Also I see the new surface has encouraged at least one speeder who knocked out a guard post at the 20 mile hr turn on Fischer. Seems like some of these roads could be put on hold while the money is spent doing something about the sad state of our low water crossings.

Agreed Jim, it looks nice and I am glad that section is complete. I'm looking forward to the completion all the way up to Carney Lane. But no matter how much you or I like it, someone will complain. Will Conley should get some credit here but he probably won’t because, on this forum he is the “target de jour”. That being the case, I’ll say it, Thanks Will.

It won’t be long before someone complains about speeders or proposed developments (as if there were none before) along Fischer Store Road or 2325. Some may even want to close it off

Sorry Jerry, but I'm not connected to either. Just a retired State Comptroller employee for over 10 years now.

There is a road off of Fischer, called My Joy Lane. Wonder if it is private or county?
Doesn't seem like any work is ever done on it and I see little kids getting off the bus walking down that rough dusty road.

I think some of us are uncomfortable with the way these decisions are being made - which roads to favor, etc.

This is why I'm bothered by it:

If there is a method, it doesn't look like one Conley wants to share with the public, based on his actions there.

Zac, this probably happens in every county in the country. As teen some 50 years ago, I remember my Dad talking about the way some roads are resurfaced while others haven't been touched in 20 years. It usually comes down to who has the most pull in these matters.
