Weather statement: Flash Flood Watch in effect from 1 am CDT Tuesday through Wednesday morning... Wind Advisory in effect from 10 am Tuesday to midnight CDT Tuesday night...Well, that's one way to cool off!!! As long as there's no damage and no dummy tries to drive through flooding and drowns himself it's all good by me. We can always use the rain round here.

Looking forward to seeing all the green again. Hope the tree limbs stay off the power lines. Ying and Yang.

The much needed slow rainfall is very welcome. I'm located in Woodcreek North and so far, my gauge shows an inch has fallen. Let's hope this is the start of a good fall rain season like last year's. Bluebonnets usually sprout in October and remain as very small plants until early March. Does anyone else, more versed on the subject, know of any other spring flowers that sprout in the fall?

Not griping about the rain. Yet. But slow rainfall it is not. I'm going out to check later but it is definitely way more than the 3 inches I'm reading in Austin news.We are now getting those driving horizontal buckets of rain that come with the bad side of a tropical storm or hurricane. Thought for awhile we might miss the worst of this, but it's found a new place to come in a window we thought was watertight. I guess Ma Nature is still boss.

The gentle rain did turn into a more tropical storm heavy rainfall and strong winds later in the day. During the night my rain gauge overflowed at 5 inches. What's the scoop on the creeks and river in other parts of our piece of heaven. It's also very sad to read about those people who continue to drive around barriers and plow into low water crossings putting themselves and others at risk.

River Road is closed from 7-A so I guess the usual spots are under water.

My husband just called and said that the creek on Jacobs Well Road is blocked off to traffic as well. Be safe out there!

I was hoping for enough rain to keep me inside the house...I've been trapped outside of the house way too many times...scrambling to find a road that would let me get back in.

BIG RAIN this afternoon. Flooded 1492 & adjoining roads. I've not seen our road with so much water in 15 years. Washed away the road surface & my driveway, flooding low water bridge. I thought the big rain was over yesterday but this was torrential. Guess the land uphill is saturated & there's no place for the water to go. I've heard that an RV park off 3237 had to be evacuated when the creek overflowed. And the river's still roaring..........

CGM, jsut think back to 2002. I totaled out at 10.75" this year over 3 days. In 02 it was over 35" in five days.If you want to see the powwer of the 02 flood, I suggest a trip to Canyon Gorge.

Too much water here can be frightening. I understand how you feel cgm. This reminded me more of the hurricanes in Houston than anything else I remember here. I know it wasn't even close to a hurricane - "just" a tropical storm. But I had flashbacks to Alicia which was a horrible destructive storm. The heat and humidity afterwards is feeling familiar today too. It's weird, but watching the sideways rain come and go and come and go made me think of Katrina. Every year I feel worse for the people who had to go through that. It makes you feel lucky after all.

Storms are not necessarily frightening for me if I'm not on the road but safe & secure in my house with a designated corner in case of tornados. Actually, I find them very exciting, again as long as I'm home & safe. I do worry about those who live in areas prone to flooding & those in mobile homes. And, maybe we do need to think of shelter for those folks.
