Our property in Burnett Ranch has a couple of what we call, for lack of a better term, caves. One of them has a rock over its opening. It is about 8 feet deep. The other cave is larger; it's 12 feet deep and at the bottom, it's about 5 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. If anyone is interested, we have some video we shot of the bigger of the two. You can see the video clips here: http://tinyurl.com/bzps7 http://tinyurl.com/78hqv The first video was taken by lowering a video camera into it. In the second video, my daughter and I paid a quick visit to the bottom. One of the most interesting things about both caves is that they both show definite signs of air circulation, or "breathing." The first cave was found when water vapor was observed coming out (it was a cold, damp day). And when we were in the bigger cave, we could almost feel a breeze coming out of the nooks and crannies. There are several holes in the cave that obviously go father back. I had a tape measure and pushed it into one of the holes until I ran out of tape (15 feet). On a different side we pushed our tape back into another hole and again, ran out of tape before we ran out of hole. We're trying to decide whether or not to identify our caves to the Texas Speleological Survey. http://www.utexas.edu/tmm/sponsored_sites/tss/index.html I would appreciate anyone's opinion on the subject. Otherwise, I thought y'all might be interested in seeing our caves. Peabody.

Property owners,Mr. Peabody mentioned caves on his property and a request for input on registering those caves with the Texas Speleological Survey. As the office manager for that non-profit organization, I would be happy to talk to anyone about the survey and what you can do to get information about registering or about other caves in your neighborhood. We have work sessions once a month at our office at the University of Texas JJ Pickle Research Campus and would love to give anyone interested a tour. Give me a call at 512.280.9648 if you want more information. Ron Ralph Manchaca

We live in Burnett Ranch too and have a cave on our property. Wonder if Peabody lives near?
