At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Hays Commissioners Court, Jack A. Hollon of the HTGCD was quoted as saying;Jacob’s Well in Wimberley has “flat-lined.” He added, “Essentially, we’ve had five or six days of no-flow at Jacob’s Well. The well itself looks pretty horrible. There’s still water there … but it’s covered with scum and algae and there’s no movement there.”

Cypress Creek is quickly drying up since Jacob’s Well is still not flowing enough to replenish losses by percolation and evaporation. I am told that there are some minor uncharted springs within the creek that also add to the flow but you can see they are not near enough. Rainfall is a distant memory now, wells are drying up at an alarming rate, yet home building and water waste continues

The discharge from Jacob’s Well remains at zero. The bridge on Jacob’s Well Road gives witness to this sad fact. The downstream side if the bridge is a mud hole containing only wet algae, beer bottles and other trash. Upstream is not much better with a very low level of scummy water and fallen trees. There is absolutely no flow in this part of Cypress Creek from Jacob’s Well. The bacteria and mosquito larva counts have to be through the roof Downstream, water is still flowing over the dam at Woodcreek Drive and the smaller dam downstream at Townhouse Circle. The source of this flow must originate within Camp Young Judea since no water flows into that part of the creek yet water flows out of it. The water at Blue Hole shows no surface flow but has no scum on it, probably due to kids splashing around in it, ugh. At the RR12 Bridge next to Inoz, no water flows and the creek is dry downstream of Inoz dam. Pray for Rain and Conserve Water

I belive there is one wastewater outfall on Cypress Creek, which could be the source of flow on the downstream end. I will check some GIS layers at work on Monday.

Finally, The San Marcos Record published an article about the well drying up! http://www.sanmarcosrecord.com/local/local_story_209114241.htmlKeye Channel 42 ran a story, Jacob’s Well Iconic Spring Drying up in Wimberley last Tuesday. I haven't seen anything like this from the View as yet. This is serious and acting like it isn't happening, is not make it go away. Jacob's Well is Cypress Creek is Wimberley.
