Does anyone know if walking sticks are poisonous? We are new to Driftwood & hill country wildlife is a little scary, especially when you've never seen a six inch black centerpede on your front porch! How bad is a centerpede sting??ehhhh!

Walking Sticks - not dangerous Centerpedes (Centipedes) - have poisonous glands and pincers, basically for defense Scorpions - the sting is not quite as bad as a wasp or yellowjacketBe aware of the critters but don't be consumed with fear of them, enjoy the Hill Country

but what about the green walking sticks compared to the brown ones. The green ones that look like bamboo sticks are fast and defensive.. [This message has been edited by famousfame (edited June 15, 2004).]

Only the giant, mutant walking-sticks from outer space. They whipped up on Godzilla and did terrible damage to Tokyo a while back but the governments collaborated with the press and put the news out that it was an earthquake.

O' look out, we have a comedian on board..that reply was funny though! I've read &heard about people being sprayed in the face by walking sticks which got me all inquisitive. Hill Country Rocks! It's beautiful and peaceful out here. Makes it more fun going into town with all this greenery around you.

Don't worry one little bit about the walking sticks, they won't hurt you. Pretty neat critters when you get right down to it.

Not only are walking sticks interesting, they are at risk. Protect them if you have them!

I forgot about the katydid. They are the pretty bright green grasshopper-like insects. They make a nice sound but thay can pinch the fool out of you if you pick them up.
