I am a wild bird lover and feeder with no cats! Over the weekend, 11 cats (3 adults and 8 kittens) showed up on my porch. I live out on Fischer Store Road and I am afraid they were dumped. If these are your cats, you are welcome to come and get them.

How wonderful you are to care for them, and how shocking that people behave this way to helpless animals.I'm sure you've already done this, but do notify ARF, if you haven't already...they may be able to help you find homes for everyone. But you might want to keep 2 or 3 friends for yourself. Cats are wonderful, low-maintenance, loving pets. We have two kitties we treasure and who we were originally trying to find homes for as kittens. Fortunately, they are still with us 15 years later and we don't know how our family was complete without them. If it's reassuring at all, we have tons of birds and a number of cats and never have a problem with coexistence. We've found that a well-fed cat rarely, if ever, will bother the birds. If they get enough to eat, most all cats primarily enjoy the presence of birds for their entertainment value, just like us! Ours can lie watching for hours, then yawn and continue the interrupted nap. They're more like a fan club than a threat. Good luck, and thank you again for caring about these abandoned, helpless living creatures. The world needs more like you.

That many cats can greatly increase the poplulation in your area so please call ARF at 847-2878 to help you. People need to take responsiblity for their pets and get them fixed! There are so many homeless animals, hungry, scared and unable to protect themselves. Emanipet comes every month and can spay and neuter many pets in one day. Thanks for not ignoring these creatures. Let us know the outcome of your story!

Cat lovers and owners do need to remember that they kill birds and other wildlife if left to their own devises outside. Please be a responsible cat owner and keep them from killing our other wildlife.

More than likely they were dumped. The result of irresponsible owners. Cats are great so long as their owners keep them INSIDE. It is a myth that cats like/need to roam. Call animal control of Hays County. Outside cats will literally wipe out the birds in a neighborhood within a matter of weeks. It's very sad to witness them attacking and killing baby birds and baby squirrel. A family in our neighborhood thought it was their given right to let their cat roam into everyone's property. They were asked by most of the neighbors to keep the cat inside. It took Animal Control setting him straight and promising heavy fines if they were called again. Now that said cat is confined in the house 24/7 as it should be....the birds are back and beautiful to watch. If you have a cat and love it..keep it inside. It is not your right to let it roam and be a bother to your neighbors, not to mention the danger they are in from other cats/dogs/birds of prey. When outside they are distructive to property, flowering beds and the wildlife. According to Texas law, while it's not against the law for a cat to be allowed OUT to roam, it is against the law IF they are a nusiance or become destructive. If they destroy property of anykind, such as the HOOD of your neighbors vehicle or the siding of a house because they spray their territory....the cat's owner is responsible for any and all damage. Imagine having to pay to repaint a brand new vehicle because your cat scratched the hood or side doors jumping up on the hood. OR...having to replace and paint the siding of a home or having to pay to replant a flowering bed because the spray is toxic.
