ABOUT WVWA

The Wimberley Valley Watershed Association is dedicated to protecting our region's water quality and quantity by promoting sustainable watershed management through community education, conservation, and land protection. Through education programs that focus on understanding watershed dynamics and preventing pollution, WVWA works to raise community awareness and promote environmentally sound land management. We have over 500 active members and have presented workshops to school groups and adults on such topics as rainwater harvesting, water quality monitoring, and the geology of the Texas Hill Country.

Some 47% of the population depends on ground water. In rural Texas and rural areas across the USA the number of people using ground water is about 96 percent. For people and wildlife in the Wimberley Valley the Trinity Aquifer is our life blood. Our lives and economic future depend on a sustainable supply of clean abundant water.

Rapid development in the hill country has increased the demand on limited ground water resources and forced over-pumping of the Trinity aquifer.

The WVWA believes that Jacob's Well is one of the most significant natural treasures in the entire Texas Hill Country. The Jacob's Well Project has an immense economic impact on the Wimberley Valley as the primary source of Cypress Creek, and will have a huge beneficial impact on the development of the Texas Hill Country.

We urge you to become a member of WVWA and join our efforts as we try to ensure a clean and safe environment for future generations.
