About Tim de Jong

Tim was born in Saskatchewan, Canada. He studied ceramics, sculpture and glass at Alfred University in New York. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in glass art from Tyler's School of Art at Temple University located in Pennsylvania.

Tim dreamed of owning a studio where he could blow glass and have people watch the craft.

In 1991, Tim came to Texas on vacation and fell in love with the Texas Hill Country. Within a year of his visit, he purchased property and opened Wimberley Glassworks just south of the village of Wimberley TX. Tim is the sole owner and works with a team of four full time glassblowers.

Inspired by the sunset through the ice buildup on railings during the winter at Niagra Falls, his style has developed using the play of light through the colors and textures of glass.
