After the last year's ultra-wet parade, this year brought Wimberley a picture-perfect day for the annual 4th of July parade. The colorful, photogenic crowd brought plenty of spirit to the occasion, including pets decked out for the occasion.

After the most rainfall for this time of year on record in Wimberley, there were those who wondered if a parade could happen at all. But the theme for the parade in 2007 was "Spirit of Wimberley," and that was displayed in abundance with enthusiastic attendance, complete with umbrellas, and entertaining participants.

The new Cypress Creek bridge and road improvements made this year's viewing much more comfortable than the construction environment permitted last year, although loyal Wimberley parade goers never let a little thing like road dust interfere with this event. Ideal weather and a four-day holiday.

Entries for Wimberley's traditional 4th of July parade this year ranged from a vehicle driving by with balloons attached to full-blown decorated works of art. Renaissance ladies from the EmilyAnn Theatre troupe and a memorable tribute "float" for a Birthday Girl were there with bells on.

After the morning parade, crowds turned out in a dreamy drizzle of misty rain to enjoy a rare cool afternoon in midsummer. Music from the Wimberley Community Chorus and the Hill Country Community Band provided the sound track for this Hill Country village event.

July in 2002 was marked by yet another of those "hundred year" floods, which the Hill Country experiences every few years. Wimberley's traditional 4th of July parade this year was postponed until Labor Day weekend, due to safety concerns caused by the summer flooding. Here's a look at some of the fun!
