Thursday, Friday, Saturday ( July 4th, 5th & 6th, 2013) 

A Texas Hill Country tradition, the Annual CPRA Sanctioned/Open VFW Rodeo  has been held for  66 years on the first weekend in July at the VFW's rodeo grounds just north of Wimberley on Ranch Road 12.

Once the largest outdoor rodeo in the world, the event still ranks near the top.  This is a Cowboys Professional Rodeo Assn. (CPRA) sanctioned/open event (Ranked "Best CPRA Rodeo of the Year" in the 2006 CPRA Hall of Fame).

The VFW Rodeo is sponsored by Wimberley's VFW Post 6441 as a not-for-profit event benefiting the community, veterans and active duty servicemen and women.

2012 TICKET INFORMATION AND BOX SEATS

  • Tickets: Adults - $15, Children $10 ($12/$7 if purchased in advance)
  • Advance tickets on sale at VFW Post June 30, July 1, 2  from noon to 6 p.m.  Cash, check, major credit cards accepted.  On those days call 847-6441. Limited box seat tickets ($25 ea.) on sale at advance ticket purchase days listed above
  • General admission parking $5 per vehicle at the gate.

2012 SCHEDULE


Thursday, Friday & Saturday (July 4th, 5th & 6th)

Cowboys Professional Rodeo Assn. (CPRA) sanctioned pro/open event (Ranked "Best CPRA Rodeo of the Year" in 2006 CPRA Hall of Fame).  Sponsored by VFW Post 6441, Wimberley, Texas as a not-for-profit event benefiting the community, veterans and active duty servicemen and women.

Gates open at 5:30. 1st Mutton Bustin' at 7:00; Rodeo begins at 8 p.m.

  • Events include: bull riding, tie down calf roping, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, women's breakaway roping, and women's barrel racing.
  • Featuring famed rodeo clown/bull fighter Leon Coffee
  • Producer & stock provider:  Bo Davis of Gonzales, Texas
  • 2nd Mutton Bustin' midway in Rodeo
  • Tickets: Adults - $15, Children $10 ($12/$7 if purchased in advance)

Also...

  • 2 calf scrambles nightly: one for ages 5-8 and another for ages 9-12
  • Food & vendors on the grounds
  • Mutton Bustin' register inside the VFW at 6:00p.m The cost will be $20 per ride, 60 lb. maximum rider weight
  • Dance following Friday night's Rodeo
