The weather for the 2011 Wimberley VFW Rodeo was a stark contrast to that of last year's hurricane wetting.
Record-breaking droughts all over Texas created hazardous fire
conditions, but the VFW supported community safety by
canceling the fireworks that often closed the event. Reports
are that no one missed them (other than the fireworks sales
folks?) and there's talk in the community about possibilities
of permanent cancellation of fire hazards, maybe even a laser
show replacement.
The triple-digit heat and dry air seemed to affect most of the
animals and the cowpersons, but the kids hung right in there.
These photos are from the 2011 rodeo on the second night.
