|2009 was the third year the Livestrong Challenge Austin ride incorporated routes through Wimberley. The LiveStrong Challenge enjoyed perfect weather again this year on a day sandwiched by heavy downpours. Part of the route for the 65 mile and 90 mile riders included River Road in Wimberly, where the Blanco River was flowing at the highest level in two years.
The photographs here were taken north of and in Wimberley including a race division point and Sachtleben Road through the Pierce Ranch. Thousands of riders rose to the LiveStrong Challenge, and those on the longer routes were rewarded with views of green fields this year, thanks to the rains. All who rode met the challenge for a great cause.
Congratulations from VisitWimberley.com to everyone who took part,
each a champion. 81 photographs appear above, starting with the beautiful dawn and views of the pack with Lance Armstrong leading the ride. Each and every rider in the race is a star in our book.
